About The Church of Sweden and communion agreements
Gothenbrug Cathedral is the seat of the bishop of Gothenburg Diocese of The Church of Sweden, which is an Evangelical Lutheran church. Our bishop is the Right Reverend Dr. Susanne Rappmann.
Our communion table is open to all who are baptized in the name of the triune God, whether you are a member, a child, confirmed or not.
The Church or Sweden is a part of the Poorvoo agreement, and as such in full communion with its member churches, among them The Church of England, The Church of Ireland, The Scottish Episcopal Church, The Church in Wales and The Lutheran Church in Great Britain.
We are also members of the Lutheran World Federation, and as such in full communion with churches like The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Congo, The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, India Evangelical Lutheran Church and more.
Other churches with whom we have ecumenical agreements regarding communion include The Philippine Independent Church, The Old Catholic Church of the Utrecht union, and The Episcopal Church.
