Worship in English

A very warm welcome to all who would like to come and worship together in English.

New in town? New to the Scandinavian way of living and cold climate in the winter? Maybe you have moved here because of work? Maybe you have moved here due to your partners work? Maybe you have moved here due to your parent’s situation. Whatever the reason may be for your stay here, the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Sweden in Skellefteå district warmly welcomes you here!

2024

Services in English, autumn 2024

Welcome to our English Church Services page for the autumn of 2024. Whether you're a visitor or a local resident, we invite you to join us for worship and fellowship during this season of renewal and growth.

Moving to a new country can be both exciting and intimidating. Many things will seem familiar, but many things may feel new and maybe even strange. If you, for example, have been used to going to church in your homeland, you may find the worship here different–not least the language! This is one of the main reasons why we have started to offer worship services in English, and we want to grow in fellowship and community together with you.

As Christians we believe that God is the same yesterday, today and forever–a fixed point of reference and source of love in abundance. Indeed, even if we move to a new country and come to a church that is new to us, God is still the same–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The services we offer are either a service of the word or Holy Communion (Eucharist). On special occasions, seasonal services are offered as well (like a Christmas Carol service in december).

We want to grow and get to know more of your church traditions. What hymns are you fond of singing? What are your local traditions, and how may we integrate them in our local worship? Do you have a prayer that is special to you, or perhaps a favourite bible verse? If you do, please let us know by joining our worship and our community in the Skellefteå district.

A very warm welcome.
