Medan de ännu talade stod han plötsligt mitt ibland dem och hälsade dem: ”Frid över er” De blev rädda, och i sin förskräckelse trodde de att det var en ande de såg. Då sade han: ”Varför blir ni skrämda, varför fylls ni av tvivel?
Se på mina händer och mina fötter, det är jag och ingen annan. Känn på mig och se på mig, en ande har inte kött och ben, och det kan ni se att jag har.” Och han visade dem sina händer och fötter. Då de av idel glädje och förvåning ännu inte kunde tro, frågade han dem: ”Finns det något att äta här?” De räckte honom en bit stekt fisk, och de såg hur han tog den och åt. Han sade till dem: ”Detta är vad jag sade till er när jag ännu var hos er, att allt måste uppfyllas som står skrivet om mig i Moses lag, hos profeterna och i psalmerna.” Sedan öppnade han deras sinnen så att de kunde förstå skrifterna. Och han sade till dem: ”Detta är alltså vad skriften säger: Messias skall lida och uppstå från de döda på tredje dagen,
och syndernas förlåtelse genom omvändelse skall förkunnas i hans namn för alla folk, med början i Jerusalem. Ni skall vittna om allt detta. Och jag skall sända er vad min fader har lovat. Men ni skall stanna här i staden tills ni har blivit rustade med kraft från höjden.”
Himmelsfärden
Han tog dem med sig ut ur staden bort mot Betania, och han lyfte sina händer och välsignade dem. Medan han välsignade dem lämnade han dem och fördes upp till himlen. De föll ner och hyllade honom och återvände sedan till Jerusalem under stor glädje. Och de var ständigt i templet och prisade Gud.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
The Ascension of Jesus
When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
