Tilly Hilariusson

Queer for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven - the need of Queer theology beyond acceptance and inclusion

We are proud to announce that TILLY HILARIUSSON will be joining us as one of the speakers at TRANSBLESSING 2024!

Tilly Hilariusson (She/Her), 29, is studying to become a minister for the Church of Sweden. Tilly grew up in a theologically and politically progressive free church environment, with a pastor mother and a deacon father, and found a passion for theology and Bible studies in Sunday school and at the dinner table. At age 22 she rediscovered her call to ministry during a mass in connection to the Stockholm Pride Parade, an experience wich led to her both starting a career in academic theology and seeking ordination, as well as finally affirming and starting to explore her identity as a transgender woman.
She has a bachelor's degree in new testament exegesis, the subject of her thesis was an analysis of 1 Corinthians 7 and the contemporary views of celibacy/chastity/asexuality(?). Currently she is doing a master's in dogmatics, her first thesis in the subject problematizing the discourse around using masculine pronouns for God in feminist theology, using the lenses of queer- theology, theory and experience.
When not studying she enjoys spending time hiking, writing poetry, singing both high church liturgies and charismatic worship music alike.

Her title is "Queer for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven - the need of Queer theology beyond acceptance and inclusion" and you can hear this SAT OCT 12TH 14.00 CET.
