"It’s fantastic to be on the staff at the Cathedral at this moment in time"

Lena Sjöstrand, Cathedral chaplin. Lena has worked in the Cathedral parish for seven years and prior to this served the Diocese of Lund for more than ten years in different capacities.

- My focus is on developing the relevance of modern day worship. In the dialogue between art, culture, theology and the ongoing life in the cathedral I am dedicated to finding ways of connecting liturgy with society.

- Right now with the Pope’s visit coming up we are very busy making sure everything is in place and checking on the details. We’re cleaning the cathedral, changing the light bulbs, rehearsing with the musicians, the singers and the young people who will be participating in the service.

- It’s fantastic to be on the staff at the cathedral at this moment in time. Granted, it’s hard work but also a great opportunity to lift the issues of peace, climate change and the refugee situation from the point of view of being a church in this day and age. It's valuable that we have this opportunity to manifest the will to work for reconciliation. It's a good sign that we can do this together.

- On a local level my hope is that we deepen our relationship in preparing for this event and that we continue to work together with the catholic Saint Thomas of Aquina’s parish in Lund. We have already talked about praying together on a more regular basis.
